Building a new coop in Kenya

Kenya

This chicken project was started in the Mukuru slums in Nairobi in a school yard. It is now home to over 100 chickens and 30+ chicks, With this project the children are learning about urban agriculture, paying the teachers salaries and their school fees by the sale of eggs and meat. This project is managed by Elijah Munovi.

Tanzania

We currently have more than 20 families who have been given 5 hens and 1 rooster. During the COVID-19 pandemic many people were out of jobs with no way to support their families. The chickens have given them food and an income. This project is managed by Golle Mbwambo. They have started their own group with the hopes of doing tabletop savings and getting extra income for school fees. Recently they planted banana trees and look forward to selling their bananas in the market.
